The Lagoa Christmas Tree (Árvore de Natal da Lagoa) is the World’s Largest Floating Christmas Tree which will be floating on a barge in the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 279-foot high mammoth tree made its first spectacular appearance in 2014 with over 3.3 million micro light bulbs, which reflected brilliantly in the waters of the South American lagoon.

The Lagoa Christmas Tree will be returning on 1st December 2018 after a two year absence due to lack of funding.

Lagoa Christmas Tree 2018 :

The Lagoa Christmas Tree will return for Christmas 2018 season with a lighting ceremony scheduled to take place on 1st December 2018 thanks to a new sponsor, Petrobras.

The Lagoa Christmas Tree Opening Ceremony 2018 event will include a music and fireworks show and is expected to draw 200,000 spectators.

This time around the tree will be illuminated by over 900,000 led bulbs.

The Lagoa Christmas Tree Opening will remain lit every night from 1st December 2018 until 6th January 2019.
