Christmas Celebrations in Utah :
For the holiday season, the Temple Square and downtown Salk Lake City will be decorated with more than a million lights, going from the Gateway to Temple Square, down Main Street to the Gallivan Center, and along Broadway Boulevard. These lights are official turned on the day after Thanksgiving and they are on every night till December end.
The Gateway Shopping Center located in the heart of Salt Lake City kicks of the holiday season with “Light Up the Night” on Thanksgiving Weekend featuring special holiday musical performances, a special appearance by Santa, and a countdown to the tree lighting ceremony. The Gateway’s light display features more than 600,000 lights choreographed with the music of the Olympic Legacy Fountain.
There is a free holiday-themed bus “Jingle Bus” which will circulate between City Creek Center, the Gateway, Temple Square, Capitol Theatre, and the Gallivan Plaza, hitting all the holiday lights and storefront decorations along the way during the holiday season.
The Electric Park in Thanksgiving Points in Lehi, Utah celebrates the holiday season with Holiday Lights featuring one million twinkling lights, giant animated holiday displays and illuminated trees as you pass through a one mile journey across the park.
The Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City will celebrate the holiday season with “Zoolights at Hogle Zoo” featuring more than a million sparkling holiday lights and more than 250 animated light displays.
Festival of Trees is an annual fundraiser event taking place in the Salt Lake City at the South Town Expo Center where there are hundreds of festively decorated trees, a visit with Santa and other kid-friendly activities. The proceeds of this event go to patients and families at Primary Children’s Hospital.
City Creek Center in Salt Lake City celebrates the holiday season with lots of events including holiday lights, a 30 foot tall Christmas Tree, giant sized wreaths, photos with Santa, plus storybook window displays, story tellers, and fountain shows.
Christmas Village illuminates Ogden’s downtown area with magnificent displays and holiday lights every year from the Saturday after Thanksgiving through January 1. There is a Electric Light Parade which kicks off the celebrations on Saturday after Thanksgiving. There is a tall Christmas tree, Santa’s Castle and seasonal eats and treats at the Municipal Gardens.
The Torchlight Parade takes place at the Park City Mountain Resort ever year on Christmas Eve.
