Christmas Celebrations in Oregon :
In the capital city of Salem, the Festival of Lights Parade (FOL Holiday Parade) takes place every year on second Saturday in the month of December. This traditional parade features illuminated floats, marching bands and music, together with the official Christmas tree lighting.
Other Christmas Celebrations in Salem include – Santa’s Arrival and Lappin Park Tree Lighting, Festivus 5K Road Race, Exhibitition of Handcrafted for the Holidays at Bush Barn Art Center, etc.
During the holiday season, the Oregon Garden in Silverton is the home to the “Christmas in the Garden” – an award-winning event featuring a traditional German Christmas Market and light display in the charming Rediscovery Forest and an outdoor ice skating rink! It is open from November end till mid December.
Portland Christmas Ship Parade is one of Portland’s oldest and most spectacular Christmas traditions which features more than 50 lighted boats sailing on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. Vessels come from Portland, Vancouver, McMinnville, Salem and Hood River areas come to participate in this event.
Oregon Zoo in Portland hosts the “Oregon Zoo Zoolights” – an annual holiday light spectacular with over a million holiday lights and more than 200 animated displays.
The Grotto’s Christmas Festival of Lights is the largest Christmas choral festival in the world.The Grotto’s celebration offers more than 150 indoor holiday music concerts performed by many of the region’s finest school, church and civic choirs.
Apart from music concerts and breathtaking light displays, the Christmas Festival of Lights offers many other activities for families, including a live animal petting zoo, outdoor caroling and a display of nativity sets from around the world.
In the heart of Downtown Portland, the Pioneer Courthouse Square, will be home to the “Christmas at Pioneer Courthouse Square” event to kick off the holiday season on the Black Friday with the annual tree lighting, Christmas market and the Tuba Christmas music and sing-along.
Silver Falls State Park in Silverton will be home to the Silver Falls State Park Christmas Festival on the second Weedend of December as the Park gets transformed into Christmas wonderland featuring decorated trees and thousands of lights and special appearance by JR Beaver and Santa.
More than 3 million LED Lights will make the Shore Acres Park one of the brightest and most beautiful place on the West Coast during the holiday season as the Park will celebrate the annual Shore Acres Park Holiday Lights from Thanksgiving till New Year’s Eve.
Ashland Festival of Light is an annual community event put on by Ashland Chamber, to kickoff the holiday season a day after Thanksgiving. There is entertainment on the Plaza, followed by Santa’s Parade in the evening and a Grand Illumination with a countdown led by Santa and Mrs. Claus who officially turn on over one million lights all over downtown.

Christmas Ship Parade takes place every year at the Foothills Park in Lake Oswego in Oregon where in more than 60 illuminated boats make their way to Lake Oswego. Reserve a seat on the Willamette Shore Trolley in Lake Oswego to see the Christmas Ships Parade.
