Sri Lanka officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in the northern Indian Ocean off the southern coast of the Indian subcontinent in South Asia. Sri Lanka shares maritime borders with India to the northwest and the Maldives to the southwest. The Capital and the largest country of Sri Lanka is Colombo.

Despite the fact that nearly 70% of population are practicing Buddhism while another 15% of people are Hindus, only a 7% of Sri Lanka’s population are Christians.
In Sri Lanka, Christmas is celebrated by Christians and shared by non-Christians in true Lankan style.
Most Christians in Sri Lanka are Catholics. For Christians in Sri Lanka, the Christmas season starts on 1st December when people let off fire crackers at dawn. The Christians go to Midnight Mass services all over the country. They also invite friends, both Christian and non Christian to their homes for parties.
The streets are decorated and the shopping centres have large Christmas Trees in them. Big companies have Christmas parties and large hotels have Christmas dinner dances.
In Sri Lanka Santa is called Naththal Seeya.
